Loud engine
Neighbors say they have called metro codes multiple times. Neighbors say Metro Codes has had no answers.
Neighbors say they have repeatedly called Metro Police. Police confirm they have been to this Hermitage neighborhood known as the Bonnas dozens of times, but so far there is nothing that police say they can do.
Neighbors say they call their Metro Councilman Bruce Stanley. They call him on Saturday mornings to let him hear the roar of the race car engine.
Bruce Stanley says he has talked to police and sent letters to codes and has visited the neighborhood and so far Stanley has been unable to make the excessive noise stop.
With no where else to turn, truck driver and father of four, Rodney Bartholomew calls that’s messed up.
Bartholomew has lived in this neighborhood for close to a dozen years.
For close to a dozen years, Bartholomew says the man across the fence in his back yard cranks up the engine of his demolition race car and revs the engine.
On this day birds are chirping and the tranquil sounds of the Zen garden fill the pleasant calm in Bartholomew’s back yard.
“You told me that this started when your little girl was in elementary school, and your little girl is now in college,” I state.
Bartholomew speaks quietly and his words chosen carefully. “That’s right.”
“Have you gone over and talked to the guy and ask why are you revving this car?”
Bartholomew pauses for a moment and tells me about an incident when he first moves into the neighborhood. There was a problem over a fence. He might have attached it to the race car driver’s side. The race car driver protested. Bartholomew says it was uncomfortable and he took the fence down.
“When we had the deal with the fence I was done with him,” Bartholomew says matter of fact.
Bartholomew takes me into his home. He leads me to a large screen TV and he pushes play.
A video comes on. I hear Mr. Bartholomew narrating. The super on the screen says: May 3rd 10:20 am. Bartholomew is taking me on a tour of his property. He shows the garden and his deck and the children’s play house. He talks about Saturday morning after Saturday morning, year after year. Like clock work, he knows the sound is going to come. He predicts it is just a matter of time.
VROOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost on cue, through jittery camera work, pointing toward the source of his consternation, you hear the cacophonous thunder of a high octane engine. At first it roars, then it consumes more fuel and the accelerator forces open the hungry carburetor. The thunder intensifies into rapid pulses, shrieking sonic booms, like an platoon of M-16’s firing indiscriminately. If there was a DB meter pointed at the tree line, it would have burst.
Loading …
As I watch the video, I see a flash of orange whip through the foliage and I hear Bartholomew say; “there it goes, down the street.”
The tiny living room is filled with the sound of the thunderous engine. Though it is on tape I almost feel like I can taste the exhaust.
“My kids can be out here playing baseball and that race car will start up and they will drop their bats and run in the house. They can’t stand the noise.”
Bartholomew introduces me to his neighbor. Pat Abel has throat cancer and he talks through a voice box in his neck. Pat has lived here for 33 years and he says for a third of his existence here, the engine noise has terrorized the neighborhood like invisible pirates spilling over the gang plank, swinging, cutlasses in hand, into his ear drums.
“I asked him four or five times to stop and he won’t. He don’t care about nobody out here, but himself.” The words exit Abel’s throat like an aerosol can. Speaking and formulating words seems arduous. Still he gathers breath after breath to tell me about the noise that he says ruins the quality of his life.
Then Abel tells me something I never could have imagined. The senior citizen tells me that he has lost his sense of smell, but not his taste.
“I can taste it,” he says referring to the race car fumes. “It is real bad. Horrible.” He struggles to force words through the box attached to this throat. “It’s unreal. Like the Indianapolis 500.”
Abel sends me MPEG video from his car port. The clip is only a few seconds long, but that is all it takes. The video is green and grainy and pointing toward his back fence. There is a roar so loud, I have to take the ear phones off my head.
“Wow,” I say to Al, telling him to listen to the noise.
Al’s salami size hands pull the ear phones away from his water melon sized cranium. He flashes me that famous gap toothed grin that says: “Yeah this is a story!”
I ask the neighbors why the police can’t make the noise stop. This is a very sore point for Bartholomew. I can sense he has lost faith in his elected officials and the city workers whose responsibility it is to make sure that quality of life in Metro is preserved.
“He (officer) told me if this guy was playing a radio real loud they could cite him. But they can’t site him for that,” he says referring to the mechanized thunder pouring forth from his big screen TV.
Apparently this is accurate. I spend a great deal of time talking to the community coordinator for the Hermitage precinct. He sends me this detailed note and observations as it relates to the city’s noise ordinance.
The first question, what is considered a noise complaint, and what can the police do about it is the key question to this problem. The metro noise ordinance is below. The code deals primarily with music and sound amplification devices (speakers). As such, a loud race car will not apply. The very last part of the code does deal with vehicles, but only those under the care and control of a business or commercial facility. This will not apply to the situation at hand. What we can enforce is a loud muffler ordinance (also below). In most situations however, we will probably need to catch the vehicle on the road for this as it falls under traffic ordinances. We have had numerous complaints coming from various parts of the neighborhood on this individual since the Precinct first opened. It is typically seasonal (during the summer), and officers have talked to the offender in the past. I have not been able to find any code that the police dept. can enforce that would make it illegal to have a race car in your driveway per se. Codes may have something that they can work with.

I go to the source of the alleged problem.
His name is Carl Taylor.
I pass by the race car in the driveway. It is orange and yellow and dented from fender to fender. There is no glass and it is immediately obvious that this high powered car is more about power than speed. More about collisions than crossing the finish line first.
I find Mr. Taylor in his back yard. Taylor is sporting a bushy pile of hair around his mouth. His hair has a twinge of red and is cut short to his head. He is wearing a cut off t shirt. Both arms are decorated with brightly colored tattoos. His dogs, in nearby cages are barking so loudly I have to shout hello.
Taylor is stunned that Al and I are there to cover this story. I sense he is mad, though he will tell me more than once that he doesn’t care what his neighbors think.
“It don’t bother me,” he says getting close to my face. “If they don’t like it they can buy me out.” The energy is pouring off Taylor’s forehead like an blow torch. I can feel his intensity as he gets right up on me to explain his position.
I’ve done this more than once, and I hold my ground.
“You realize it is pretty loud, right?”
Taylor shouts at me. “Well, I had the police out here last Saturday, and police say I was not bothering a soul out here mid day Saturday I have motorcycles that run up this road louder than this car.”
To prove to me that his car is not that loud, the 43 YEAR OLD jumps up on his race car, twists some wires and cranks the engine of the demolition derby machine.
“VROOOOOOOM”
The car spews out exhaust and a fire storm of noise. Blue smoke bursts out of the shiny chrome pipes extending through the hood.
Taylor is energized as he jumps off the trailer like a wild animal ready to pounce. He heads right for me shouting over the voluminous roar.
“You tell me you can’t hear Harley Davidson’s running down the road louder than that?”
“Say that again,” I shout back, sort of amazed that anyone would try and communicate standing next to this power plant of pulsing energy.
“Tell me you don’t hear Harley Davidson motorcycles louder than that car right there.”
I shake my head and move around to get some video of the exhaust pipes which are blowing out a steady belch of smoke.
Taylor again leans into the camera and tells me that he is glad he is on the news and I should make sure and record what he is about to say.
“This is my hobby,” he screams, while banging on the driver’s side door.
“Me and my son have been doing it 15 years, and I am not going to stop.”
“Do you ever run it up and down the road?” I ask.
“No its not street legal,” He replies.
Taylor turns the car off. Like sticking a massive cap into a volcano, the intensity of anger and noise and belching sound subsides quickly. I hear a flock of birds flutter through nearby trees, flying in a frenzied formation as if their little brains have been pulverized by invisible hammers of sound.
“I wish my neighbors would mind their own business,” he says.
At first, Taylor seems a bit rough around the edges, but suddenly he shows me a caring side.
While standing on top of the trailer, he bangs the roof with his fist.
Like a judge on the bench, enforcing an important point of law, Taylor commands my attention, pointing to the names painted on the top of the car.
The names are in memory of some demolition racers who died recently.
“There are some boys who drowned in Dickson,” he says repeatedly banging on the roof. “That’s them boys’ name and that girl’s name right there. I put their names on this car: In loving memory of these people. We run these cars cause these boys. Chris and Brian. They derbied with us for years. That’s why we built these cars in loving memory of them.” I see how much this means to Taylor who is growing increasingly emotional.
“My son won, and he gave a trophy to that boy’s momma right there.”
I appreciate Taylor’s dedication to friends and former racers.
“You seem angry that your neighbors have called the news?”
“I am not angry,” he says staring at the names etched on the top of his racer.
He pauses. High octane emotions begin coursing through his veins pumping through his soul like racing fuel being ignited by a spark plug.
Taylor is kidding himself with this statement. He’s mad all right, and he’s going to admit it.
Like the cold edge of a capricious wind racing ahead of an approaching squall line, his true feelings emerge.
“Well yeah I am angry that man calls. He don’t have nothing better to do. This car is no louder than any motorcycle on the road. This car is not bothering a soul. If they have a problem, they should come talk to me. I hope I am all over the news. I am telling you right now. I am not stopping!!”
Taylor is a bubbling pot of oil. He is once again spewing his words at me.
“I will drag another car in here, and I will make the next one twice as loud.”
I laugh at the suggestion of a 2nd race car even louder than this one.
Taylor continues defending his position.
“I had the police in here last Saturday listening to them run. He said it was not bothering a soul. There are motorcycles running up and down the road louder than that. He said as long as you are not running them up and down the road, then you are not bothering nobody.”
I thank Taylor for his frank and candid remarks.
They say get both sides of the story, and I have certainly accomplished that.
Metro Police tell me neighbors have been complaining about this race car for more than a decade.
Police say if he was blasting a loud radio, they could cite Mr. Taylor.
But the Metro Ordinance, the way it is currently written, really does not adequately address loud engine noise.
While police are at a loss to enforce a noise ordinance, Metro Codes revisited this equation and Wednesday, MAY 7TH, they cited Mr. Taylor.
Essentially it’s against the law to keep an unlicensed car in a driveway, even if it is on a trailer.
Officials say he has 15 days to move the race car into a garage or barn or he’ll be cited into court.
Councilman Bruce Stanley tells me by phone he sent a letter to codes.
I asked what more he might do.
He says he plans to look at tightening the loophole that governs the decibel level of music but not loud engines.
Here is the violation that Metro Codes says the vehicle violates, as written by Assistant Director Billy Fields.
“Basically, the vehicle must meet the requirements for a motor vehicle to be stored on residential property. This vehicle does not meet those requirements in that it appears to not be operational and it is not registered and licensed. Vehicles stored on a trailer must meet the same requirements as one parked in the driveway.” from an email from Bill Penn, assistant Director of Codes and Building Safety
The violation is of Metro Code of Law number 16.24.330:
B. Open Storage. Except as otherwise provided for in the zoning code, it is unlawful for the owner, occupant, or person or entity in control of a building, structure or premises to utilize the premises of such property for the open storage of any: Inoperable, unlicensed, or unregistered motor vehicle ; appliance; building material, including glass, brick, stone, block, wood, metal; rubbish; tires; automotive parts; or debris, including but not limited to weeds, dead trees, trash, rubbish, garbage, etc., or similar items. It shall be the duty and responsibility of every such owner or occupant to keep the premises in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition and to remove from the premises all such stored items upon notice from the director.
The owner was ordered to abate the problem within 15 days. If he fails to comply with this abatement order, a warrant will be issue for the owner to appear in the Metro Environmental Court.
Here is the metro ordinance governing loud music, but not loud engines:
11.12.070 Excessive noise.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to:
1. Operate or allow the operation of any sound amplification equipment so as to create sounds that register more than fifty-five db(A) between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. or fifty db(A) between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., as measured anywhere within the boundary line of the nearest residentially occupied property. For multifamily structures, including apartments, condominiums, or other residential arrangements where boundary lines can not readily be determined, it shall be unlawful to operate or allow the operation of any sound amplification equipment so as to create sounds that register more than fifty-five db(A) between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. or fifty db(A) between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., as measured from any point within the interior of another residential unit in the same complex or within the boundary line of the nearest residentially occupied property. For purposes of this section, “sound amplification equipment” means a radio, tape player, compact disc player, digital audio player, television, electronic audioequipment, musical instrument, sound amplifier, or other mechanical or electronic sound-making device that produces, reproduces or amplifies sound. This subsection shall not apply to a special event, mass gathering or other permitted activity by the metropolitan government or its boards or commissions. 2. Operate or allow the operation of any sound amplification equipment for advertising purposes or otherwise to attract customers so as to cast sounds which are unreasonably loud and disturbing or which register more than sixty db(A) at or on the boundary of the nearest public right-of-way or park. The provisions of this section shall not apply to properties lying with an area zoned CC district and properties zoned CF district that are contiguous to those zoned CC district.
3. Operate or allow the operation for personal use of any sound amplification equipment on the public right-of-way, including streets or sidewalks, or in parks under control of the board of parks and recreation so as to produce sounds registering more than sixty db(A) fifty feet or more from any electromechanical speaker between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., or fifty db(A) fifty feet or more from any electromechanical speaker between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. The provisions of this section shall not apply to properties lying with an area zoned CC district and properties zoned CF district that are contiguous to those zoned CC district.
B. The foregoing limitations on the operation of sound amplification equipment provided in subsection A. of this section shall not apply to the operation of horns, sirens, or other emergency warning devices actually being used in emergency circumstances.

The car owner is obviously a real piece of work. Ok, he’s a loser who doesn’t care about his neighbors’ absolute RIGHT to peacefully enjoy their property.
That vehicle HAS TO HAVE A MUFFLER, yet he’s not being cited for that. He’s making EXCESSIVE NOISE with that vehicle, which is unlawful under 12.32.050 (Mufflers–Prevention of noise, fumes and smoke). Metro is incorrect in their claim that they can’t cite this moron.
I love racing, but I will enforce my right to peacefully enjoy my property. I’m also a musician, and I respect the rights of my neighbors. If I can’t blast my music, then he shouldn’t be allowed to blast his engine.
Hobby? I DON’T CARE! He’s a pig.
Why dont you interview all the neighbors who dont care. You only got the two old men who have nothing better to do. It dosent have to have a muuffler. I dont think he drives it to work.
consider yourselves lucky in a way,,,,he could be doing it on saturday night after he gets back from the race. rather hear it saturday morning when im out of bed than to hear it in the middle of the night when im trying to sleep. a simple neighbor visit and just question him about some of his winnings or ask him to share some stories, and try to see it from his side. cant be too bad. if you cant beat them,,,join them…
Old men needs to move back in the woods where you have to
pump sunshine, not much noise at all. Life’s too short to
worry about a loud engine every so often, There’s worse things in this world. deal with a little noise and be happy.
no one’s complaining about what they do.
Metro and neighbors should be proud these guys are recycling these old junk cars. They fix them, race them, and then scrap them where they belong. He has his car on a trailer and not piled up like a junk yard. It appears that he only has one to two cars there not like a used car lot. I would much rather a noisy car be in my neighborhood than a bunch of guns shooting off all the time, like Dickerson Rd. We agree with the comment above about working on it during daylight hours and not at night. Maybe those who are closed minded should be alittle more understanding to others hobbies. At least he is not leaving his BIG truck in his driveway running all night like he is at a truck stop polluting the air. These demolition derbies have good causes and raise money like “Relay for Life” May 24, 2008 in Franklin, KY to help the cancer victims. So before you pass judgement on others KNOW the FACTS! You could live in Hickman County where there is no codes on how many cars or junk that one can have laying around. So if it’s that annoying sell your house and move to Brentwood or Franklin and you won’t have this problem. God Bless and AMEN!
These people who are making light of this situation have to be either friends of the guy or have just never had to deal with something like this near their home. Homes are where we go to relax and enjoy our family. The neighbor said the sound of the engine scares his kids and doesn’t even allow them to play outside. That would make any of us upset. We pay good money for our homes and expect to be able to enjoy them. I believe if this was in any of our backyards we would be upset. My dad is a racer with a car very much like this guys but he would never do this to his neighbors. He has built a garage to work on the car away from others and takes it to the track to practice. Why can’t this guy just try to be respectful of others? He could still do what he loves and the neighbors could enjoy their home. Remember the golden rule?? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
wow guys we live right next to him way closer than the complainer and these guys are cool and just want to have fun with a race car….he doesnt bother us and our house is on top of his house lol so the guy on the next street over should not be bothered either….guess he just needs somethin to complain about
I have lived a half of a block from Rod Bartholomew and Pat Abel for over 15 years and have never known either of them to complain about any neighbor until this redneck Taylor moved in with his so-called hobby.Well guess what I am complaining too.If I have my windows or patio door open to try to get some fresh spring air,I can’t even hear my TV.Thats a half of a block from our good neighbor Carl Taylor and his hobby!! I have complained to the police along with Pat and Rodney umpteen times. This noise is not just on weekends,it is in the afternoon week days also.Taylor is trying to bully and intimidate his nieghbors to keep them off his back.It ain’t happening!!I will join with Rodney and Pat to get this stopped.I have noticed it has been a lot more peaceful around here since channel 2 showed everybody how good of a neighbor you are..thanks Andy
I think that Taylor is being somewhat considerate at least he is not firing it up at 10pm during the weekday or later. It is a hobby he enjoys with his son on the weekend. Just because it is not a hobby his neighbors can understand, does not make it wrong. I bet if it was a NASCAR father and son team they would not be complaining. People need to take a step back and look at the positive aspect of Mr. Taylor’s hobby, he could be parting with loud music and crazy people.
I would just like to say I think people who live in close proximity to each other should respect their neighbors. Americans should not be fussing and fighting with Americans.. We should all stand together and be United. God Bless
The noise isn’t all day everyday!! The only reason its quiet now is because the derby is over not because of the news! But there will be many more! Thats his property and he should be able to do whatever he wants. Where else do u expect him to do his hobby? As long as its not after 10 pm or before 8 am what does it matter? They wouldn’t like anyone telling them what to do on their property!
I can have my earphones in my ears listing to music all the way up and when HE starts that shit I can’t even hear my music…. It may be his property but his neighbors also have theirs and they can not even enjoy their homes.(which is their rights AL WELL!!!) He takes the thing out on the roads on streets where little kids lives.. what happes when they are out side… because their parents told them to play n their ball runs out into the street from the back yard and that MORON!!!! hits them?? i bet he’ll feel like a reall jackass then…. oh wait HE WOULDN’T CARE!!!! That car is so loud it shakes the windows….I’ve talked to an old couple that lives down the street and they told me that every time he starts up that god of saken thing he calles a hobby….it nearly gives them a heart attack. He should be more considerate of his neighbors.
Wow…these comments kill me.
I lived there for some time, and I cannot express how loud this is. I worked 2nd shift, so I would sleep until 11-12 easy, is that a big deal and everyone else’s problem? No. What isn’t being said is that the noise is so catastrophic that it shakes the glass of all the windows in the house. That’s normal? No.
I think this is a problem indeed but I will see both sides. I drove a white Honda Accord with a custom LS VTec WITH a Glass Pack exhaust. This sucker would give you a headache driving up a ramp on the interstate. Know how many times I got pulled over because of it? I bet more than these rednecks have been arrested (I say that because I assume a lot). What did I do? I drove it as silently as I could…neutral down the driveway and eased 2nd until I was out of residential. Why do I get pulled over and get tickets but these hillbillies don’t?
The point of the matter is this; this is a small mid-upper class suburb in Nashville. No land, no space. If you can’t see the problem with noise so loud that you can’t even watch TV without distorting the sound on a high-end surround system, then obviously you’re ignorant. It’s not “rev a couple times” every Saturday and that’s it, it’s to a point where families have to leave their home every Saturday because they can’t stand to be there listening to the noise—want a say “get over it?” You can’t function, let your kids play outside or do anything in this condition.
I’ll bring up something else that Andy and Rodney didn’t even touch…the smoke and exhaust fumes. I’ll just give a little story about it. I was lying on the trampoline on my phone in the backyard smoking a cigarette one Saturday morning I had off. The engine scares the hell out of me. Okay, whatever no big deal…I got used to it after a minute (and of course after getting off my phone due to not being able to hear a word…that was a great manager conference). What killed me at that point is when I took a hit of my cigarette walking back to the house, was fumes and smoke straight through my esophagus, down my trachea into my lungs and stomach and sent me into a respiratory attack. You don’t think that’s a problem either?
Look, I’ll finish this rant, this car is worse than having to sit through an episode of Will and Grace. This car is worse than listening to Kenny G on repeat. This car is worse than Chuck Norris punching you in the face with his beard. I have a loud car. But there’s a difference in being pigheaded and “rev rev rev WHOOOOOOOOO LISTEN AT THAT THERE CLETUS!” for hours at a time just to breath in the fumes, cutting their lifespan in half, and destroying theirs and everyone else’s hearing, and a difference between being respectful. Halloween is coming up…don’t piss off the wrong people.

Oh and by the way, I grew up in Sumner County in a mid class suburb and my dad had a 79 Supercharged Nova. He got arrested twice. It was street legal, he drove it to work, and it has tags and passed emissions. What’s different in Sumner and Davidson county?
It’s not a “little” noise. When the police come by and they supposedly turn the car on for them, they are not revving the engine like they do when the police aren’t around. I’m not an “old man” and it bothers me. We live in the city…a car like that should be in a rural area where there isn’t anyone around to bother.
I’ve lived in the same neighborhood with my wife for the last five years. I don’t understand how in Davidson County someone can have their radio up and be sited, but the gentleman reving his race car engine isn’t considered disturbing the peace. My house is now for sale simply because every Saturday morning I can’t enjoy my own home. The Davidson county commission should seriously consider rewriting the noise ordinance where it would make since. The gentleman that owns the car has been confronted by many of the neighbors and excuse the phrase, but when you act like a “backwoods redneck, maybe that’s exactly where you should be.” I’m getting out of this situation, but for the people who have to stay and hear it I have the deepest sympathy. It’s a crying shame nothing more can be done at this time.

I have a comment for joe who thinks old men ought to go to the woods maybe he feels the same about his dad. but hey stupid us old men are the very reason you have the right to express your opinion think about if it were not for us serving our country fighting a battle you do not have the guts to get into you would not have these rights and would you stand idly by and let your father or grandfather suffer this kind of anguish. judging from your comments you probably would. kiss your dad goodnight and tell him to go to the woods
I have watched the news cast, I have read the commentary and all the comments. I think this all boils down to the guy just not caring about his neighbors and there right to a peaceful day in their own home. I worry about my neighbors if my dog barks to much and I do live out in the country. Some people just do not have it in them to be courteous to others. I am sure Mr. Bartholomew and Mr.Able are not the only ones that are upset about this, a lot of people just do not like to get involved. And they should because as tax payers everyone has a right to say no to a situation like this. The noise and exhaust of this magnatude are inexcusable.
I can not imagine the smell that comes from this car. I has got to be worse than being around a smoker. OH and by the way there are laws out there about that. So this is REALLY messed up!!!!!
i think that everyone that lives by taylor should be proud, come live by me and i will show ya how big this hobbie is . if ya dont like Mr. taylor ( BUY THEM OUT BIG GUYS) . that is his hobbie that him and his son does for fun, so let them have there fun and stop crying.
Okay… what no one seems to care about is the fact that a new born is on my street. Do you all not know… (or don’t remember) how hard it is to get them to sleep or how short they do stay asleep…. you can only sleep when that baby does… but u can’t even do that because the race car is so loud it scares the baby and wakes it up. It may be his hobby and that’s fine and all but you should be considerate of your neighbors. That baby could end of being traumatize because not everyone can afford to just pick up and move… Now my question is to all of you is this: If you had a newborn and u just got it to sleep… your trying to get some sleep your self, And that race car starts up and wakes up your child.. That it took you forever to get to sleep… how pissed off would you be? I bet u wouldn’t feel like… “Oh you should be lucky to live by him…” “You should be proud…” yadda yadda yadda…If you did your only kidding your self. People should stop think about just THEMSELVES and start thinking about others as well… Life’s too short for small stupid little quarrels…
Hillbillies support hillbilly behavior. Nothing more needs to be said.
I grew up in McNairy county with redneck hillbillies that would make Carl Taylor look like a whimp, but most of them and me where tought to respect their friends and neighbor’s rights to live in peace and quiet. It looks like Taylor was never tought this as a child or just don’t give a damn. Which is it Carl?? I think I know. It’s both.By the way I see comments with only first names that support you.Very few at that. When will you comment and use a full name?
WHY DONT EVERYONE WHO HAS A PROBLEM WITH MR.TAYLOR GO TELL HIM WE SEE WHO THE PUSSIES ARE TALK ALL YOU WANT ON THE COMPUTER
I think he has a right as long as he is currently racing the car and the car is in use. reving it up and tuning it at home should be allowed. his neighbors need to shut up, and the way you stereo type the poor man being harrassed by his neighbors and the news. i enjoy going to the races, and without seeing me you already think you know what i look like, and i can assure you that you have no clue. this article and these complaints are what is messed up…….
I think that this is MESSED UP, i think that ya are some crybabies, I think ya need to worry about bigger problems than some guy and his son having fun on the weekends. i dont hear people talking about motorcycles that are loud and i dont see people that live by a race track crying. This is a sport that many people come and spend time and money to watch with the whole family including chrildren . my two kids are 2 and 4 and they dont run and hide when these cars start. Guesss my kids and sissy and my kids are girls too. Stop CRYING CRYBABIES. GO GET MR. TAYLOR AND SONS AUTOGRAPH. GO 64 / 01
guess my kids arent sissy and my kids are girls
YES IT IS LINDSAY TAYLOR, Mr. Taylor’s daughter-in-law!!! I am not afraid to put my name on here because I have just as much right to say what I feel as everyone else. So here goes!!! I have a 13 month year old and my husband owns a slew of derby cars, she has no problem hearing the car. There have been several occasions where my husband has put the car in the garage (directly under her room) while she was sleeping and everything was fine! I guess that makes her a backwoods redneck too! Thanks people!
Also, this is not the place to be making threats to people. The person that came out and said “Halloween is coming up…don’t piss off the wrong people” should be careful. That is just opening the door for the police coming to see you! Name calling and threats are a serious matter! I think Mr. Taylor should be calling “That’s messed up” on all his neighbors for harassment. The laws are in Mr. Taylor’s favor no matter what anyone thinks and all the false reports that have been filed are insane. It is really ridiculous that people are on a web site trashing a person that they don’t even know. You should realize that the news only shows you what they want you to see and that there is much more to this story than any of you know!! Get the facts before you start downing someone you don’t know!!
And….if you are going to post on here and be hateful, please use proper english and spelling….it really shows who the real uneducated people are.
Thanks!!!
Lindsay Taylor
Like I said get your facts straight before you start talking on a web site. I don’t know who you think you are, but there are no “racing licenses”!!! These are demolition derby cars! I don’t have any clue who he threatened to shoot, but they need to take that up with him if it is even true!!! The point is that he has every right to do whatever on his property if he is not breaking the law and he is not. So everyone needs to take a big breath and chill out. And those are threats when you tell someone to watch out! I know the law!!
Thanks for your comment though, it just proves everything I was saying before!
We invest alot of money and time into these cars but it is something we enjoy. You have to fine tune these machines because they go thru very intense conditions.I thought Saturday was day to work on cars no matter what.Being that this neighborhood is in direct path of the airport it is never peaceful with jets going all the time.I live across the street and don’t bother me.SO GET USE TO IT.DEMOLITION DERBY IS FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!GET READY FOR DICKSON
Sara, I have noticed the poor grammar and your sentence should read, “…is AN inconsiderate…”
Lindsay Taylor, you’re a loser like your loser father. You’re raising a loser too. A deaf loser to boot.
You’re a stupid hilbilly. You’re defending a stupid hilbilly. Enjoy your hillbilly life.
I don’t have to post my last name here or anywhere else. I know what hillbillies like you do when you’re exposed as the losers you are.
You need to grasp reality and understand that you’ve been busted for your lowlife attitude. Your father has been ordered to remove the car from the property within 15 days or he gets to give away some of his money.
You’ve lost. The neighborhood will be a better place for it. If you don’t want to be a good neighbor, go back to the hills where you came from, because you don’t belong among civilized people.
Jamie: Are you too stupid to realize that a 13 month old child goes to the doctor for check ups? Do you really think I wouldn’t know if my child was deaf. I have a college education, what do you have?? You are quick to judge and call names on people you have no idea about and it is hilarious. Get real!!
Now, this one is going to be fun!!
Sue: You are a stupid BITCH!!! The neighborhood should start worrying about all the drug dealers and crackheads that live there instead of a car! What grasp on reality do you have to think it is ok to talk about people you don’t know? You have no idea who I am, where I live, or where I came from!! You would be amazed!!! No one on here has a clue, and to attack a child is out anyone’s realm of comprehension!! Looks to me like we are finding out who the real low-lifes are to talk about innocent children. BOTH my children are just fine and healthy, but thanks for worrying about them! You should really get a life and maybe some children of your own and then you will realize how pissed I am right now! I could care less what is going on with the car, because stupid people like you have made this personal to me and I won’t take it!!
As far as the codes sending a letter, once again, I will say, get your facts straight!! He doesn’t have to remove anything!!! It is so funny that you all think you can win!!
Just to let everyone know, there is a derby May 31st, so get the police on speed dial!!!
Seriously…Jessica??? Are you really going to get on here and say something horrible about my child!
Yes, I do believe I just did. (notice how that’s not a question mark but an exclamation point She used?)
This just shows how classless you really are!
Classless?? I thought Proper English was… ” This just show how much class you actually have?”
You can’t even put your last name on here,
That’s because I was taught not to but it doesn’t matter cause I don’t care. I don’t need everyone to know who I am cause those that i am referring to already know.
but that really doesn’t matter I know who you are related to!
wow.. do you think I actually care.. it’s not like you are gonna come by and shoot me now is it.
I don’t care anymore about what is going on because the law is on our side so sorry about that.
Your side??? If it truly is on your side then why does he have 15 days to remove the vehicle or he gets cited into court?
But for you to get on here and say something about my child, you should be ashamed of yourself!!
Me Ashamed? NEVER! Why should someone be ashamed about stating the truth about something. Have you ever heard the saying “the truth hurts… Get use to it”
You have to live with that, not me.
I can live with that thank you. I have a perfectly clean conscience. thank you very much.
It is really big of you to say something like that and then say it has gotten out of control.
hmmmm now that’s a hard question… I guess it just depends on how you were raised.. and…Ya i’ll just just leave that one alone. HAHA!
People like you made it that way. So keep on feeling big and bad about talking about people’s chlidren, that will only come back to bite you!
Come back to bite me???? hmmm I don’t’ see how stating facts and opinions let alone the truth will come back to bite me but okay.. I’ll deal with that when it comes. XD Have a nice rest of the day.
You’ll never get Billy Bob to stop the pointless engine racing and reving.
The only way for it to happen is for the city to tighten up the noise pollution laws.
In the meantime- someone take Billy Bob a case of Beer.
He’ll chill out for a day or two.
Mary Jane….she is saying things that aren’t true!! She doesn’t know my children and should never have said anything about them!! If you had read all my comments you would see that I was being civil until they talked about my child. If you wouldn’t take up for your family that is your problem. Me, on the other hand, I will always take up for mine and not let people say anything about them! I wrote in all caps to make sure people knew what my responses back to her commment were because it was confusing, but I guess that is too much to understand! Putting the car in a garage isn’t moving it! He can still work on it in the driveway, it just has to be put up when it is not being worked on, so they still don’t get their way. I don’t need to take a look in the mirror, I know who I am and who my family is and that is all that matters!
Thank you though, your meaningless little comment has been noted!!!
You all know that if you have such a big problem with things people are saying on here just don’t read and don’t post. Everyone has the right to say what they want and defend who they want to defend. I agree with Lindsey, those people should never have talked about her kid. That is is rude no matter what!! She should be pissed and should talk about people. Other than that, who cares about it, he is going to do it so just deal with it!
Hey pot, the kettle is calling! You are now getting all upset by what I said to you! Now that’s funny!!! I don’t know why you think saying things about my children is ok and why you are defending a low-life that attacks children! But that is your problem. By saying awful things about my children that is what got her in this mess! People shouldn’t have to decide if it is true or not I am setting it straight by get on to someone saying bad things about my children!
And yes, you have to “move” a car into a garage, but he doesn’t have to “REmove” it from his property and that was the point. It is really sad that I have to break everything down to you!
no what’s really sad is that no said anything about removing the car genius.. and who’s getting mad i’m getting a kick out of it.. and she did imply that your child was deaf and yes that rude and all but thats what crosses everyones mind when you say ” her room is right above the garage when he does that and it doesn’t bother her when she’s asleep” you brought your kid into this not her so deal with it.
The point was that the cars aren’t really that loud if a child can sleep through it, but I guess you have to have a brain to understand some things!!
Wow…I just have to say a majority of you sound like idiots…both sides.
Lindsay: Why do you try to throw your “college education” at everyone acting like you’re better than everyone else? I’ll stoop to your level, I have a degree in Health Information Technology, a Diploma in Medical Transcription and a Degree in EMS Education with a Diploma in EMT-IV…AND I’m in Paramedic school. How about them apples?
You did start the slamming other people’s kids…if you go up and read your comments you started it. Let it go.
Why are you getting so pissed off? Seriously no one said anything about him getting rid of the car and stopping his hobby…just shut it up a bit. They just don’t want their windows shaking all day. He’s got it in a building, if you call it that, and it dampens the sound. I think that’s a step in the right direction. Can we all agree to disagree on this?
As far as everyone on Rodney’s side, ya’ll are awesome as you haven’t obviously been recruited to “fire back” on these comments and you did it out of your own free will. But please, Jessica, cool it. You’re going overboard and it is showing.
And lastly…if this argument is going to continue, can you please pop your comment into Microsoft Word before posting it? Trying to stitch through this grammar is worse than watching a monkey try to hump a football. Thanks.
-JB
JB: I wasn’t “throwing” my college education up in anyone’s face. I was simply stating the fact that I would know if my child was deaf to the person who said I was stupid.
PS, congratulations on your accomplishments!
I never once said anything about anyone that was hateful until they did! And also, once they did say something about my children, I STILL never said anything about anyone elses! I wouldn’t stoop that low!
Also, if you would read carefully, Sue said…
You need to grasp reality and understand that you’ve been busted for your lowlife attitude. Your father has been ordered to remove the car from the property within 15 days or he gets to give away some of his money.
So, in my defense, I haven’t said anything that wasn’t in response to someone else’s comment to me. I don’t care about the car drama, it all could’ve been settled if BOTH neighbors had been civil in the first place and just talked about it. Instead, it turned into a mud throwing contest! I love ALL of my family and will defend them no matter what! I am sorry if you all disagree with me, but some things just aren’t right!
I’ll repeat myself. Deal with it.
Hi everyone. I am one of the web people here at News 2. I just wanted to let y’all know I deleted a few comments that could easily been viewed as libelous. I don’t delete comments where people are simply arguing a point back and forth in a heated manner, but keep in mind if you cross a line and call someone names, threaten others or commit what might be viewed as libel, your comment will be deleted.
News 2 takes threats, libel and any other illegal behavior on our web properties very seriously. If you feel you have come across a comment that fits that category, please feel comfortable contacting me directly. You can call us and ask for me.
Thanks for tuning in and hanging out here to talk about Andy’s stories.
Mr Taylor has been painted as a”tatooed redneck hillbilly”,not because he sold drugs, not because he molested children, and not because he murdered anyone.IN FACT,Mr Taylor’s only “alleged” crime is NOT being compliant with his neighbors. These are the same neighbors who painted such an ugly description of Mr Taylor. This reminds me of a story,of a man who was walking along the beach when came across a dozen or so perfectly rounded clay balls. He picked them up and on a whim, started to throw them as far he could into the ocean. He had thrown most of them, when he dropped one. There on the ground was this broken clay ball with the most beautiful diamond in it.The man in disbelief started to crack open the few he had left, only to find a beautiful diamond in each one.At first the man didn’t know of the value of the clayballs ,he thought they were useless clayballs.Moral of the story,THINGS are not always what they seem!To those who continue to throw useless clayballs ,SHAME ON YOU! TO those who know Mr Taylor, know that he is valued, and PRICELESS!
You Go!! Kellie Camp,,, I loved the story and to the negative neighbors out there, Leave Mr. Taylor alone, he has a Hobby and is enjoying his self. I also have a race car round track sportsman division and have had to listen to neighbors complain and have the police show up at my house, we all know when is the correct time to work on our race cars and when it’s not. To Mr. Taylor, would love to come see you race. Where do you race?
This moron is acting like any “terrorist” would. He’s a neighborhood thug, and can be dealt with.Involve the police or Metro council member that represents your area.Obtain coppies of city ordinenecs, consult agencies that deal with noise & air pollution etc. Make some recordings to document the racket, make sure they have a “time stamp”.If all else fails hire a lawyer and sue this idiot! You have right’s too!No one should have to live like this ! Good Luck
Mr. Taylor will be racing may 31 in Dickson, TN about 40 miles west of Nashville come out and enjoy the fun and a very good derby. It starts at 7:00 pm go mr. taylor and son 01/64
Well I wish them the best of luck…. and thank him for quiteing down in the neighborhood
I am with MARY JANE,but if that crap starts up again,I will be the first to throw one hell of fit about it. Welcome to the neighborhood CARL! Just don’t blow it. THANKS FROM ED!!
I have one question, “Do the kids that run, run from school also?” Schools are just as loud or louder than the derby cars. As for Rodney, his being a truck driver, he should be used to the loud noise. Also, how are you suppose to practice in a derby car when a derby car is made to crash not race around a round track. it is no worse than a few motorcycles, trucks that are dualed out riding up and down your street. How would ya’ll feel if my boyfriend brought his 4-wheeler and done donuts in your yards. That would give you something to actually raise cain and call the police about, not someone trying to fine tune his car for the derby.
Jessica, The kids playing with the ball that goes in the street could be hit by anyone(even you) not just the derby car, so how would you feel if you hit them. I bet like the moron you sound like. Kids are not even suppose to play in the road and should be taught to look both ways before crossing.
JB Bond, Did you and your father hot rod your car to get pulled over on your way to work or something. The derby car is not meant to drive to work or to the store. As for your statement “What killed me at that point is when I took a hit of my cigarette walking back to the house, was fumes and smoke straight through my esophagus, down my trachea into my lungs and stomach and sent me into a respiratory attack.” Are you sure that it was not due the fact that you were smoking a cigarette? Cigarette smoke is worse than the fumes from the derby car or any other vehicle on the roads. As for being on the phone for a manager conference, the wind could have made it impossible for you or them to hear each other, so you should have been inside for that phone call. Do you have problems with the planes flying over? You gonna call the police about them, too? They are just as loud. As for the noise being loud enough to shake the windows, the helicopters from Fort Campbell are loud enough to shake not just the windows but the whole house, but I don’t call the police about that. People need to think about what they are complaining about before they complain about them.
[...] station’s “That’s Messed Up” segment to see if anything could be done. The reporter said on his site, Almost on cue, through jittery camera work, pointing toward the source of his consternation, [...]
hey Carl just buy your neighbors some earplugs and tell them to have a nice day…………
Man I’m glad I dont have his neighbors.Maybe they should come over and go to derby with him and get involved in doing something other than trying to cause trouble for there neighbors.
i just wonder how he can afford the gas for that thing?!
